MacGyver Gets Renewed for 5th Season!
CBS released the news today MacGyver cast members, crew and fans have been waiting for!
Team Mac will be coming back for a 5th season! MacGyver received it’s official renewal notice!

While the current Covid-19 pandemic shut down the remainder of season 4 filming back in early March, we do know there were additional episodes filmed beyond the season 4 finale to air this Friday on May 8.
We can assume the remainder of those episodes will begin the 5th season when it returns. No dates yet for that or for when the show will begin production again. Once it’s safe to do so we assume…. and once we have that information, we’ll share it here!
In the meantime, enjoy the season 4 finale this Friday and then get ready for season 5! Bring on more paper clips and duct tape, Mac!

MacGyver Renewed For Season Five
“CBS announced today that MacGyver is getting a fifth season. It’s the renewal notice that fans have been waiting for. After getting less than anticipated out of the fourth season due to worldly events, it is a welcomed announcement. Although we don’t know when the season will be airing, there is no doubt that the writers will have another tantalizing tale for fans. With the uncertainties that are facing our current world, it’s good to have something like television to fall back on. It helps us escape “reality” for awhile.
MacGyver and the rest of the Phoenix Foundation have evolved immensely from past seasons. This is no longer just a “fun-loving” show. There is undeniable darkness and depth to the characters and their intricate stories. Instead of being pictures of “perfection”, we are able to see the real grit of what makes these characters tick. I am hoping they will continue to explore these avenues in the season to come.
The series has garnered quite a following since the reboot went live in 2016. The popularity of the original series seems to have carried on to this one. With a wide fan base, this cements the longevity of the show. Peter Lenkov seems to have the golden touch when it comes to rebooting series and may that trend continue.
