We are thrilled to officially announce our candidacies for the upcoming SAG-AFTRA Hawai`i Local elections, and we’re asking for your vote!

Henry Ian Cusick for President, and Scott Swartz for National Board Member & Vice President.

We have each proudly called Hawai`i home for over 20 years, and are deeply committed to strengthening our Union and fostering a thriving future for all SAG-AFTRA members in Hawai`i.

Henry Ian Cusick for President:

For the past four years, I’ve had the honor of serving on both the SAG-AFTRA National and Hawai`i Local Boards, working to protect and advance our collective interests. My core motivation for running is a passion for increasing work opportunities in Hawai`i. As a SAG-AFTRA member for 23 years, I’ve seen firsthand the power of our union. I firmly believe that unions improve working conditions for all members, and play a crucial role in promoting local productions. My goal is to work collaboratively with our local partners to cultivate a vibrant film and TV industry that showcases our unique culture and talent.

Scott Swartz for National Board Member & Vice President:

As your Hawai`i Local Secretary since 2021, I was proud to serve as a Strike Captain during the 2023 TV/Theatrical Strike. I’ve been a delegate to both the 2024 Special Convention and 2023 National Convention, and a member of crucial National Committees like the Strike Preparedness and Contract Communications Committee. My primary legislative focus is securing increased tax credits incentivizing new productions. I will also encourage closer working relationships with our sister unions in Hawai`i for long-term industry growth. I am committed to delivering knowledgeable, experienced, accessible leadership that’s devoted to the unique needs of our Hawai`i Local.

On August 21,202 SAG-AFTRA announced the results for the Hawaii Local elections. Please note that some candidates ran unopposed and were declared elected without the necessity of a membership vote. Those members elected as Local Officers, Local Board members and Convention Delegates, by virtue of their election to those positions, are also elected as Alternate National Board members who may be called upon to serve at National Board meetings when the National Board member from Hawaii is unable to attend. The National Board Member and President, by virtue of their election to those positions, also serve as Convention Delegates.

The newly elected leaders will be installed in office on September 8, 2023.
